5th ANNUAL
LITTLE RIVER BRIDGE RUN HITS THE FINISH LINE
Laurens An rainy and cold day greeted the participants of the 5th annual race. As race day registration began, the rain stopped and remained overcast for the rest of the event! As the runners approached their first turn, the wind had picked up and the temps started to drop. For some, this was grest running weather!
With cooperation from CSX Railroad, the Laurens City Police Department, Laurens Family YMCA and around fifty local volunteers the race was completed successfully. The course, which climbs up South Harper to Farley, was a major challenge for the first mile. A scenic run down West Main filled the middle of the course, which finished by following the Little River trail finishing at the new amphitheater.
Post race comments were very positive about the course and community. Many are eager to train for next year's competition. Jonathan Irick, Main Street Laurens director, was very pleased with the event ,which serves as a fund raiser for Main Street Laurens. The race committee already met to evaluate this year’s event and plan for the 2009 race.
