Laurens features the Upstate's traditional historic courthouse square. Coupled with quaint restaurants and shops, Laurens is an ideal host for this event. In addition, the Little River Trail contributes to the area's charm. Over a dozen different architecturally significant historic buildings and homes line several stretches of the racecourse. The race will carry runners through many historic residential districts (S. Harper St., Farley Avenue, Todd Avenue, West Main Street), Laurens historic downtown area, and finishes along the Little River Trail.
The 2010 race is once again being titled sponsored by Laurens Family Practice and Greenville Hospital System. The Champion Chip Timing system is sponsored by Dr. Gary Crow, Dr. Julie Childers and Laurens Home Medical. The Mile Markers are sponsored by Reynolds Family Dentistry, Laurens CPW, Carolina Cardiology, Amedisys Home Health Care, Laurens County Health Care System, Upstate Wound Healing Center, Carolina Nephrology, Piedmont Cardiology, Agape Senior, Palmetto Bone and Joint and Piedmont Pediatric. The event is also sponsored by Lifetime Family Dentistry, Montgomery Riddle Eye Care, Mass Mutual, Coca-Cola, Joe Kirby State Farm, City of Laurens, Physicians Sales and Service, Lowry Mechanical, Spa West, Print-A-Matic, Greenwood Home Respiratory Care, George Love-CPA, and Fleet Feet Sports.This year we will also have fruit at the Finish Line given by Ingles Supermarket of Laurens.
Race applications will be available at all business sponsor locations and online. A t-shirt is included in the registration fee (guaranteed only for those that pre-register by March 12). All registered runners will be eligible for a drawing for a pair of running shoes provided by Fleet Feet of Greenville. Top M/F 8K finishers in seven categories will receive awards.
